So many movies out, so little money. I get it, we are college kids: broke, stressed and always hungry. A little bit of R&R (relaxation and ramen) is a great ending to the week. But going to the movies should also be enjoyable, not stressful.

Here are some tips to save big at the movies:

EXCLUSIVE FOR CITY TECH STUDENTS:

If you didn’t know, our school sells movie tickets for $10, exclusively to us Citytech students. At our Student Life Development Center located in the General Building-516, staff can sell you tickets for any Regal movie. If you want to get a little fancy, 3D movies are sold at an extra charge but not to worry, it’s still cheaper than average movie prices. The best part about this: it NEVER expires! So remember, run don’t walk to G-516. Ask for Chandrica or Daisy.

Matinee:

C'mon, you get up early. Every. Single. Day. Matinee movie schedules are usually not too early in the morning. The times vary from 10 to 11 am with usually no lines. Go get your coffee and make your way to the theater and save a bit of money.

At Regal matinee prices are as follows:

Children (<11 years) $10.00 - $13.00

Adults $10.50 - $13.50

Seniors (ages 60+) $10.00 - $13.00

At AMC matinee:

Prices average between $9 - $11 per ticket regardless of age.

Student and Military Discounts:( can vary at theaters)

Regal:

Student Discount (with valid ID)* 0% - 15% of adult price

Military Discount (with valid ID)* 0% - 20% of adult price

AMC :

Student Discount (Only On Thursdays) $12.69

Military Discount (After 4 P.M.) $12.69

Join Movie Reward Clubs:

At AMC, there is an offer know as “$5 Ticket Tuesdays” for when you join AMC Stubs and AMC Stubs Premiere. AMC Stub Premiere members can get a Cameo Combo, drink and popcorn, for just $5 on Tuesdays. The combo includes a Cameo-size fountain drink and popcorn.

Regal also has a point reward club called Regal Crown Club. This is where moviegoers get points for buying everything Regal. More points give opportunities to get free or discounts on the concession stand and more.
