WALK THROUGH THE DOORS AND TAKE YOUR SEAT!
THIS is your one-way ticket to a cinematic wonderland of Japanese anime.
Noble productions from major studios like Walt Disney, Paramount Pictures, or Funimation Entertainment have their moments in the spotlight; some are even winners of the Grammy Awards for Best Motion Picture. From the top of the list, there are numerous films which are famous for the name of the director, screenwriter, or iconic scene that’s synonymous with it like the James Bond series is the poster boy for film noir or spy films and Top Gun is the must-see for aviation in America.
When a film is very successful both in the box office and reviews, other pieces of work will pay homage or parody these accredited blockbusters. Inspired artists challenge themselves with the task of creating their own rendering the original trophy holder that it’s based on. Some of these include classics like the American Pyscho, The Shining, and others are full-sized posters that are artistic epitomes of their specific genre.

IF you’ve seen the classic horror, thriller film American Pyscho then this is going to be a real heart stopper. In the parody, the original movie poster above you see the female character from the 2010 anime Highschool of the Dead, Saeko Busijima. Her appearance in this parody makes a lot of sense when you consider she’s a capable swordswoman and her skill with the blade walks a fine line between sanity and depravity. The minute she takes hold of weapon, be it a Japanese katana or a kitchen knife (ergo the poster to the left), she becomes a demon detached from reality and relentlessly attacks without mercy!
During the podcast of recent anime that have been released this Spring, one of the series mentioned was the fifth part of Hirohiko Araki’s manga Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, the Golden Wind. This story arc of the franchise mirrors the life of the gangsters in Italy, the Mafia. The film most associated with this genre is the everlasting classic known as The Godfather. The protagonist, Girono Giovanna, carries himself with dignity and absolute confidence, much akin to the boss of a powerful crime syndicate or family.

This parody features what Giorno Giovanna would like if he were present in The Godfather film series. He is dressed in a fine black suit with a red corsage like a gentleman should.

The genre of horror is rooted in the primal fear we all have for the unknown. Reveal a shocking, scare-inducing freight to unsuspecting soul; the next thing is the sound a terrified woman’s blood-curdling screams. One of the films available on this site is The Shining, which many people have seen. The signature phrase “Here’s Johnny is often known about this film when the serial killer finds his victim and makes a forced entry via breaking the door with a weapon. Parodies of this scene may vary from the circumstances. One of them depicts characters from Part 4 of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Diamond is Unbreakable. The one breaking in is Yukako Yamagishi, the beautiful girl with a twisted, violent personality when incidentally angered. The victim seen barracking the door is her timid boyfriend is Koichi Hirose.
In the Fall Season of October 2018 there were many series that began airing. Each anime was independently released from a studio, but that didn’t stop anime fans from drawing creative works of art. Below you can see the Japanese courtesan Yugiri of Zombie Land Saga deal a well-deserved “bitch slap” to Akane Shinjo of SSSS.Gridman. Both of these girls come from anime that aired in Oct 2018 and they have personalities that fit the bill for this clever image. Akane Shinjo proclaims herself as a god and performs insane acts that leave one to question her sanity and audacious attitude. Yugiri on the other hand is thought of as a Cool Big Sis, being the oldest member of the idol group she belongs to and has a habit of slapping some sense into someone when they make a fool of him/herself.

Lastly this a three-way parody depicting female characters from completely anime but they all have one thing common – they like to play where it's wet or prefer barefooted sports. From left to right, Kokonoe from BlazBlue, Holo from Spice and Wolf, and Tsyu Asui from My Hero Academia are seen wearing one-piece sport swimsuits while trying the keep their balance of a keijo land field. The anime for which this mainly based on is the 2016 water sports anime Keijo!. In this series female competitors are to battle each other on floating platforms called “lands” and must knock their opponents into the water via hip attack. You could say this was breathed to life from the boldness of these girls in their native element.
